Niagara Workforce Planning Board (NWPB) serves the Niagara region as a leader in local labour market planning, delivering authoritative research, identifying employment trends, targeting workforce opportunities and bringing people together to action solutions. The organization conducts annual research on the trends, opportunities and priorities impacting Niagara’s labour market and releases an annual publication that captures strategic actions to address key priorities.

NWPB is one of the 25 planning regions in Ontario that make up the Local Boards Network. Local Boards are funded through Employment Ontario. Each year, they provide labour market planning that is tailored to local economic realities, delivering activities and projects to help communities achieve better results.

Niagara Workforce Planning Board works to improve the conditions of the local labour market by:

	engaging communities in a locally-driven process to identify and respond to the key trends, opportunities and priorities that prevail in their local labour markets;
	facilitating a local planning process where community organizations and institutions agree to initiate and/or implement joint actions to address local labour market issues of common interest;
	creating opportunities for partnership development activities and projects that respond to more complex and/or pressing local labour market challenges;
	organizing events and activities that promote the importance of education, training and skills upgrading to youth, parents, employers, employed and unemployed workers, and the public in general.

Niagara Workforce Planning Board's role is one of facilitation and communication. Bringing community stakeholders of the Niagara region together to identify labour force issues and develop possible solutions for labour force development is a key focus. As importantly, NWPB strives to ensure that information on community initiatives and actions are disseminated in an accurate and concise manner throughout the Region of Niagara.

NWPB covers the area of the Niagara region consisting of the communities of Grimsby, Lincoln, St. Catharines, Niagara-on-the-Lake, Niagara Falls, Fort Erie, Thorold, Welland, Port Colborne, Pelham, Wainfleet and West Lincoln.

Niagara Workforce Planning Board consists of a volunteer Board of Directors, appointed from their various Labour Market Partner Groups (LMPG) and two permanent staff members. These volunteer Directors are people at the local level who have a sincere interest in employment and training issues in their community.

Membership on NWPB's Board of Directors includes representation from women, youth, visible minorities, persons with disabilities, Francophones, and all levels of government (in an ex-offio capacity).  It is through this diversity that NWPB can tap into and engage the many constituencies in our communities.
